Application
CHES is a zwitterionic N-substituted sulfamic acid. CHES is used as a buffer to study pH-dependent processes in enzymology. This compound has been shown to have unusually high affinity for the iodoacetate binding site of hepatic alcohol dehydrogenase. The compound has a pKa of 9.49 at 25°C and can be used in the pH range 8.6-10.0.
