Application
1. Food flavourings: Vanillin is a food flavouring agent with the aroma of vanilla pods and a rich, creamy scent. It is an indispensable and vital raw material in the food additives industry, widely used in various flavoured foods that require an enhanced creamy aroma, such as cakes, ice cream, chocolate, sweets, biscuits, instant noodles and bread, as well as in tobacco, flavoured alcoholic beverages, toothpaste, soap, perfumes and cosmetics, ice cream, beverages and daily-use cosmetics, where it serves to enhance and fix fragrances. It is also used in soap, toothpaste, perfumes, rubber, plastics and pharmaceuticals. It complies with the FCCIV standard.

In China, vanillin is primarily used as a food additive; however, its application in the pharmaceutical sector has been expanding in recent years and has become the field with the greatest potential for vanillin use. Currently, domestic vanillin consumption is distributed as follows: the food industry accounts for 55 per cent, pharmaceutical intermediates for 30 per cent, feed flavourings for 10 per cent, and cosmetics and other applications for 5 per cent. Overseas, vanillin has a wide range of applications. It is used extensively in the production of pharmaceutical intermediates, as well as in plant growth promoters, fungicides, defoamers for lubricants, electroplating brighteners and conductive agents for printed circuit board production.
