It competitively binds to the melanin-stimulating hormone receptor MC1-R on melanocytes, preventing melanocytes from producing tyrosinase, thereby inhibiting melanocyte activity and reducing melanin production. According to some clinical trials, undecylenoyl phenylalanine (MoreWhiteUPChemicalbook) can indeed reduce spots caused by pigmentation. Undecylenoylphenylalanine has good skin affinity and can control the combination of α-MSH (melanocyte stimulating hormone) and melanin production factors, thus blocking the process of melanin formation.
