Application
Used for preparing succinic acid, pentanediol, tetrahydrofuran, pyran, etc., as well as solvents for coatings, resins, and oils. In the printing and dyeing industry, it is used as a lubricant, dispersant, decolorizing and deodorizing agent for drugs, and also as a raw material for organic synthesis such as plasticizer, herbicide, insecticide, etc. Tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol bromination yields tetrahydrofuran methyl bromide, which is then replaced with sodium thiosulfate to produce tetrahydrofuran methyl thiosulfate sodium. It is a raw material for long-acting vitamin B1 (furanthyamine).
