Application
Primarily used for industrial dyeing, Rhodamine B is fat-soluble and exhibits strong fluorescence in solution. It is used as a fluorescent stain for laboratory cells, in colored glass, and in specialty fireworks. It was also once used as a dye for condiments (primarily chili powder and chili oil) and a food additive. However, subsequent experiments have shown that Rhodamine B is carcinogenic, and its use as a food dye is no longer permitted.
