3-Hydroxypiperidine is used as a reagent for the synthesis of trisubstituted ureas, which are useful as thrombin receptor (PAR-1) antagonists. 3-Hydroxypiperidine is also a metabolite of piperidine (P479985), an organic heterocyclic amine widely used as a basis and reagent for the synthesis of organic compounds, including drugs.
