Application
An intermediate in the production of oxalic acid; also used in cellulose finishing agents and in textile and leather processing; serves as a primary standard for the standardization of potassium permanganate solutions in analytical chemistry; acts as a yellow-light-emitting agent in fireworks; and functions as a component in selective media to inhibit the growth of Gram-negative bacilli in *Yersinia enterocolitica* cultures.
