Application
Silver chloride is a component of photographic emulsions. Its photosensitivity is lower than that of silver bromide but higher than that of silver iodide. It should be stored away from light and packaged in black paper. It is used as a preservative and a sedative. It is also used in silver plating, medicine, and the manufacture of cosmic ray ionization detectors. Single crystals can be used as infrared absorption slots and lens elements.
