Introduction
The pure product is white crisp crystals, the industrial product is light yellow amorphous block, m.p.238℃, soluble in alkali and glacial acetic acid, hardly soluble in water.
Uses
1. Used in organic synthesis
2. Used in the production of pesticides, dyes, fragrances, pharmaceuticals, and rubber additives (CTP).
3. Used in the production of high-efficiency ion exchange resins, surfactants, heavy metal extractants, etc.
Production methods
There are two industrial production methods for its preparation: the carbon ammonium method and the urea method.
(1) Carbon ammonium method: Phthalic anhydride and ammonium bicarbonate (liquid ammonia or ammonia water) are uniformly mixed in a molar ratio of 1:1.2, heated in a reaction tank at 300℃, cooled, and crushed to obtain the finished product.
(2) Urea method: Phthalic anhydride and urea are uniformly mixed, heated and stirred in a chemical book until they are completely melted, and maintained at 160℃. After about 10 minutes, the volume of the reactants suddenly increases. Stop heating and continue stirring until the reactants solidify. Heat again over high heat, stop heating after a few minutes, and continue stirring. After a certain period of time, add water and filter, wash with 3% sodium bicarbonate, then wash with water, and dry to obtain the finished product.
