Application
Methyl orange is a commonly used acid-base indicator, a fading indicator for strong reducing and oxidizing agents, a cytoplasmic indicator, a histological contrast staining agent, and a pollen tube staining agent. The pH value changes color from 3.1 (red) to 4.4 (yellow), and the alkalinity of most mineral acids, strong bases, and water is measured. Capacity determination of tin (Sn2+during heating) causes the fading of methyl orange (Chemicalbook). A fading indicator for strong reducing agents (Ti3+), Cr2+), and strong oxidizing agents (chlorine, bromine). Measure chlorine, bromine, and bromine ions by spectrophotometry. It can be used as a mixed indicator with indigo disulfonate sodium or bromocresol green to shorten the color gamut and improve the sharpness of color change. Redox indicator, such as used for titration of trivalent arsenic or antimony with potassium bromate.
