Application
1.Used as a cell staining agent.
2.Acid base indicator. Its sodium salt is commonly used in colorimetric determination of acidity and alkalinity. Acid-base indicator, pH value 3.8 (yellow) to 5.4 (blue). Its sodium salt solution is used as a colorimetric agent for pH determination using the Chemicalbook spectrophotometry. Used as a reagent for thin layer chromatography to determine aliphatic hydroxyacids and alkaloids, and as an extraction and separation agent for photometric determination of quaternary ammonium cations.
