Application of POLYQUATERNIUM-1

Polyquaternium-1 is a strong cationic polymer. It is mainly used as a preservative in ophthalmic preparations and has the characteristics of broad-spectrum bactericidal, low toxicity and low irritation.

Core Function

Sterilization and Antimicrobial Protection: By disrupting the cell membrane structure of microorganisms, it effectively inhibits the growth of bacteria (such as Pseudomonas) and fungi (such as Candida albicans). It is commonly used for the preservation of multi-dose eye drops, contact lens care solutions, and other products. 

Anti-static and film formation: Its cationic property can neutralize surface negative charges, reduce static electricity, and form a protective film on the object surface. 

Application Areas

Ophthalmic preparations: As a new generation of eye-use preservatives, they are used in eye drops, artificial tears, etc., balancing antibacterial efficacy and ocular safety. 

Personal Care: Some shampoos, wipes and skin care products use them as mild preservatives or conditioning agents. 

Industrial applications: such as water treatment coagulants, papermaking retention aids, etc.
