2,4-Dihydroxybenzaldehyde Usage And Synthesis
Application
2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, as an aromatic aldehyde, is widely used in dyes, medicines, pesticides, spices, materials and other fields. Its structure contains active functional groups of hydroxyl and aldehyde, which can be easily converted into other compounds. Chemicalbook, as an important type of fine chemical raw material, has great application value and important significance in organic synthesis, chemical analysis, coordination chemistry, chemical additives, drugs, pesticides, dyes, luminescent materials, photosensitive materials and other aspects.
Biological Activity
2,4-Dihydroxybenzaldehyde is an endogenous metabolite.
Target
Human Endogenous Metabolite
Synthesis process
Dry DMF (12.6 g, 128 mmol) and freshly distilled dry POCl3 (22.6 g, 146 mmol) were added to an ice-cold Chemicalbook solution (0-5 ° C) of 1,3-benzenediol (44 g, 128 mol) in acetonitrile (150 mL) under magnetic stirring. The precipitated salt was filtered and washed twice with cold acetonitrile. Water was added to the salt residue, heated at 50 ° C for 30 minutes, and crystallized after cooling. The crystals were filtered, washed with cold deionized water, and dried in a vacuum oven to obtain the title compound 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde.
Chemical properties
Yellow or slightly yellowish brown crystals, easily turned into brown powder insoluble in ether in moist air. Soluble in water, ethanol, ether, chloroform, glacial acetic acid, slightly soluble in benzene.
Uses
2,4-Dihydroxybenzaldehyde is a resorcinol derivative with strong antioxidant and antibacterial activities. This product is usually used in the two-step synthesis of ethyl 3,5-dibromo-2,4-dihydroxycinnamate.
