Application
1-Bromooctane (n-octane bromide or octyl bromide) is an important raw material for organic fine chemical products. It is mainly used to synthesize surfactants such as fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ethers and alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ethers. It is also the main raw material for synthesizing skin penetration enhancers such as N-alkylazacycloalkane-2-one series compounds, the ultraviolet absorber 2-hydroxy-4-n-octyloxybenzophenone (trade name UV-531), and 4-octyloxybenzoic acid, an intermediate of liquid crystal polymers. It is also an important intermediate for the synthesis of indo red series thermal pressure-sensitive dyes and pesticide fungus and toxin clearing.
